How to Prepare Your Home for Fumigation in Kaduna (Checklist)
A simple Kaduna-specific checklist to prepare your home before the fumigation crew arrives — for safe, effective pest treatment.
Why preparation matters
A well-prepared home gets a deeper, more effective fumigation. When food, dishes and personal items are properly covered or removed, our crew can treat every surface — including the corners where cockroaches and bed bugs actually hide.
24 hours before — kitchen and food
- Move all open food into sealed containers or the fridge
- Empty kitchen counters of utensils, mugs and small appliances
- Open all kitchen cupboards and pantry doors
- Remove pet food and water bowls
The morning of fumigation
- Sweep or vacuum floors so chemicals reach surfaces directly
- Pull beds, sofas and cupboards a few inches from the wall
- Open every wardrobe, drawer and storage box
- Remove bedsheets and pillowcases (we'll treat the mattress)
- Take pets — including fish tanks if portable — to a neighbour or family for the day
After the treatment
- Stay out of the property for the safety window we specify (usually 4–6 hours)
- Open all windows on return to ventilate for 30+ minutes
- Wipe down counters, dining tables and high-touch surfaces before food prep
- Do NOT mop floors for 7 days — this washes away residual treatment
FAQs
Is fumigation safe for children and pets in Kaduna homes?
Yes, when prepared properly. We use NAFDAC-approved chemicals and require everyone — including pets — to leave the property for the safety window. Once aired, the home is safe for re-entry.
How long does a typical Kaduna home fumigation take?
Most 3-bedroom homes take 1.5–2 hours of treatment, plus a 4–6 hour ventilation window before re-entry.
How often should I fumigate my home?
For Kaduna's climate we recommend fumigation every 6 months as a baseline, or every 3 months if you've had a serious cockroach or bed bug infestation.
